Date | 5.28-16
Ceremony | Stampe Lilac Garden Duck Creek Park Bettendorf, IA
Reception | The Stern Center
Quad Cities Wedding Photographer | Avenue Studios
Dress | David’s Bridal
On Saturday May 28th, Dave and I had the honor of not only witnessing our son’s wedding and adding a new daugther-in-law to our family, they also asked me to photograph and Dave to officiate the wedding. The day begin with Nick in the Stern Center Groom’s room while Annie had her hair and makeup done in The Stern Center suite.
Annie and her and Maid of Honor Christy came to our studio just a few blocks away from the Stern Center where we took full advantage of our beautiful Boudoir studio for her to get in her wedding gown from David’s Bridal. Annie choose to use a veil I had in my studio as her “something borrowed” that perfectly matched her dress. Once I placed the veil on her, it was time for her Dad Brian’s first look.
The bridesmaids then joined us and took a few more photos before heading to Duck Creek Park for the ceremony. Just moments before the ceremony was to begin, we had an absolute downpour of rain and wind and had to delay the ceremony. Thankfully it was a quick storm and we were able to proceed with the ceremony as the sky began to clear. I have to admit, I was fighting back a few tears right away when Nick’s 2 sons came walking down the aisle looking so handsome. Nick was already emotional from that and then when he saw his bride for the first time, well you can imagine the rainstorm had nothing on his tears.
Annie was absolutely beautiful in her gown as Brian who smiled but also fought back the tears. Everyone got a break from the emotion when this Marine father was so emotional he forgot to hand her off to Nick before sitting down and Nick reminded him he was there to and asked if he was going to shake his hand which of course, he did. Dave officiated the wedding ceremony.
Nick and Annie wrote their own vows and did a unity painting which will hang in their home. After the ceremony was delayed, we were pressed for time so we took our family photos and the couple hopped in a cool Mustang convertible as the wedding party followed in the party bus.
Our first stop, Chili’s where Nick and Annie first met. Then we were off to the Clubhouse where they had a drink and Nick and best man Jace played a game of golf. Time was escaping us so we headed to the Stern Center for the wedding reception with cake by Lana, food by Bridges, music by our son Josh, known as DJReverie and the kids enjoyed a bouncy house to play in. It was a beautiful day/evening.
A few days later, we decided to take advantage of the beautiful day and the fact that Nick still had his tux. I picked up Nick and Annie and we set out once again to photograph them. It was fantastic to not have to worry about a time schedule and concentrate on only them for a couple hours. We went to several locations and ended up back at Duck Creek park where their new chapter in life began. Side note, I highly recommend couple’s to consider a Bridal Shoot after the wedding day, we not only enjoyed the time together, we shot tons of beautiful photos that you just don’t always have time to do on a wedding day. Congratulations Nick and Annie Meumann!! I am proud to have been there to see your new life together truly begin and wish you years of happiness in the simple joys of life together.
Special thanks to my awesome assistant Alex, for assisting me with the wedding photos and making sure I could hop on the other side of the lens for a few photos with my family!
